The Big 6 Grand Prix Series has a proud history in the Southern California off-road racing community. The Big 6 organization was originally made up of six District 37 motorcycle clubs with more than 100 years combined in promoting Grand Prix motorcycle racing events in Southern California dating back to the early 40’s.
After years of independent operation the member clubs first combined their efforts under the Big 6 GP Series umbrella in 1995 and later incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2007. Since then the series has grown to seven rounds of racing hosted by seven different clubs all sanctioned by the AMA & District 37. And according to the AMA, the Big 6 GP Championship Series has grown into the largest Amateur Motorcycle Racing Series in the United States boasting well over 7,000 entries in the 2009 season.

The Big 6 events are held at several different venues in Southern California. Each venue is unique in its own way and the courses are influenced by the natural terrain and local environments of their respective locations such as Honolulu Hills Raceway- Taft, CA, Glen Helen – Devore, CA, Primm – NV, Quail Canyon MX – Gorman, CA, Desert Empire Fairgrounds, Ridgecrest, CA, The Ranch – Anaza, CA, 29 Palms Motorsports Arena, 29 Palms, CA and of Course the ultimate setting… The Prestigous Catalina Grand Prix, Catalina Island, CA. offering a unique and different course at each round. The event locations may vary from year to year, but will never be duplicated twice in one year. Most venues are between 1-2.5 hours drive from Los Angeles.
Each event regularly draws an amazing 1,200-1,700 racers from all over Southern California, Central California, Nevada and Arizona. It’s not uncommon to have well over 4,000 spectators attend each round. These are by far the largest off-road racing events held at most of the racing facilities. A testament to the popularity of the Big 6 Series is that even in a down year and weak economy race attendance continues to grow with total attendance for 2010 exceeding 10,000 entries.
We continue to work at making the Big 6 GP’s a positive, safe and friendly environment that is family orientated. We have classes and races for all skill and age levels, from Youth and Pee-Wee’s (15 years and under) to Super Seniors (60+ years), as well as all displacements. Trophies and give-aways are provided to all Pee-Wee entrants, and 15% - 20% trophies to all other classes.

In 2008 we started a new Youth Program for young racers 6-15 years of age – “The Future of Our Sport”. The new Youth Program is now a points paying class with a year-end #1 plate just like the big boys. Contingency Awards of more than $200,000 are offered by Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha and Husqvarna. XTRM Sports Network.com recently joined forces with the Big 6 Series increasing contingencies to racers in all classes. Riders are eligible for all kinds of gear, equipment and hardware via sponsorships and promotion through the XTRM Sports Network.
At Big 6 we believe in the sport of off-road motorcycle racing and we are working to keep the future of our sport strong. We are a non-profit organization and all the host clubs are composed of volunteers who love to race motorcycles. We also support AMA District 37’s efforts to keep our riding areas open.
